Buildings

City Skylines, Towers and Castles

Extend a set upward or replace a skyline with apocalyptic city backdrops, London skylines, office blocks, skyscrapers and industrial buildings, plus castles, stone churches and a mansion for period pieces. The city street backdrops include a looking-up angle for low shots. Damage a clean facade with building damage graphics.

Category information

What size for a skyline?

Architecture is usually in sharp focus in a wide shot, sitting right next to a real facade. Use a large PNG, up to 8K, so the windows hold as much detail as the building they extend.

Category help

How to extend a building or skyline

Match the vanishing points: line up the building's verticals and rows of windows with the converging lines in your plate.
Hide the join where the real building ends and the extension starts along a roofline, cornice or ledge, and feather it.
Track the extension to the real facade below it with a planar tracker, such as the Planar Tracker in DaVinci Resolve's Fusion page.
Put a ruined skyline into an apocalypse scene, or drop a new sky behind the rooftops from skies.
